Everyday we have the chance to get into our own minds and do what I like to call a diagnostics check. (Caution: Long post ahead)

For me, I meditate in the morning(before looking at my phone) and I just greet myself. I check in with my body to see what areas need attention. Usually something hurts from the previous gym session๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคฃ but deeper than that, I just where my head is at. What kind of thoughts are wading in the waters.

Being honest- itโ€™s about a 50/50 chance that my thoughts are less than ideal in the mornings, and regardless what caused it- I am at least aware enough to know I donโ€™t want them to continue. *
Btdubs- these are thoughts that range from โ€œ๐Ÿ˜–f*ck today Iโ€™m sleeping in and not answering the phoneโ€ to โ€œ๐Ÿคฌwhy am I bothering? Nothing seems to work in this state and everyone judges me all the time. I feel worthlessโ€

The trick? Iโ€™m not sure what other people do, but it works for me to acknowledge that these thoughts exist, but then I switch lanes and become grateful that I have a mind powerful enough to create such a vivid illusion. ๐Ÿค”๐ŸงI go further into myself and say if Iโ€™m capable of that- the polar opposite of these illusions is absolutely within my capacity… and then the thought train ๐Ÿš‚ is full steam to awesome town

Sometimes thatโ€™s all I need to begin thinking of a better present moment. A better day. And a better future. *
Our mental state is something we should take care of. Take pride in. And be grateful for. The negative thoughts we ALL have do NOT define us. Take a moment and think about something you may have thought against yourself, how can you flip that into positive self talk? *
